The Amalfi Coast is stunning and operationally spicy. A car can be freedom or a rolling argument with a bus on a cliff.
Take the car if…
- You travel outside peak summer hours.
- Your hotel has confirmed parking (get it in writing).
- You are comfortable with narrow roads and assertive local driving.
Skip the car if…
- You visit in July–August with no parking plan.
- You mainly want Positano / Amalfi / Capri — ferries and buses cover a lot.
- Driving abroad on the right already stresses you out.
The coast will still be beautiful if you arrive by boat. Your shoulders will thank you.
