YOUR MARCH SKI SHORTLIST
Five resorts. One clear comparison.
Manchester · March 2027 · seven nights · two adults sharing
Full trip estimates include flights, stay, transport, six-day lift pass and ski/boot hire, food, baggage and a local-charge reserve.
Planning figures, not live package offers. Turin and Torp fares were checked on Ryanair; Sofia remains a comparison-site indication. Hotel prices are search snapshots. Recheck baggage, room terms, fees and connections—especially the late Turin arrival. Lessons, winter-sports insurance, clothing, helmet hire, UK airport costs and substantial après-ski are extra. Separately booked components do not automatically form a protected package. Full budget notes follow the resort guides.
Bardonecchia, Italy
For mixed-ability Alpine trips
Around £1,005 per person
8–15 March 2027 · Manchester · seven nights · two sharing
Wooded pistes, 100km of advertised slopes and Jafferau terrain reaching 2,800m make Bardonecchia a strong Alpine starting point for mixed-ability adults. Choose sectors to suit your confidence and the day’s conditions.

Airline fare snapshot: Manchester–Turin return with Ryanair, £49.98pp (£99.96 for two), checked on Ryanair’s fare-selection screen. Outbound 18:55–22:05; return 22:55–23:59, local times. Basic includes a small under-seat bag; larger bags cost extra. Late arrival: confirm an onward connection and check-in before booking; a private transfer or overnight stop could exceed this budget.
Accommodation sample: Bardostudio, £564.83 for two for seven nights, or £282.42pp after rounding. This was the lowest-priced property returned in our resort search, not an exhaustive market minimum.
The resort’s rail connection makes a DIY journey worth investigating, with an airport-to-Turin connection before the train to Bardonecchia. This £60 transport allowance is not a confirmed through-ticket price. Check late-flight connections and arrange arrival with the accommodation.
Fairy tip: choose your apartment around the ski bus or slopes you’ll actually use; a cheap room loses its sparkle if daily taxis eat the saving.

Borovets, Bulgaria

Around £995 per person
14–21 March 2027 · Manchester · seven nights · two sharing
Put Borovets beside Bardonecchia if keeping the bill down comes first. Its operator advertises 58km of pistes for different abilities: a smaller ski area suited to cost-conscious adults happy with practical apartment accommodation.

Flight indication: Manchester–Sofia return with easyJet, around £97pp, refreshed on Skyscanner for two adults (£193 total displayed). Outbound 06:15–11:35; return 12:20–14:00, local times. The easyJet booking page returned an error, so this fare remains airline-unconfirmed.
Accommodation sample: TES Flora Apartments, £327.90 for two for seven nights, or £163.95pp. Privately managed apartments can differ, so confirm the exact unit, beds and included facilities; do not assume pool or spa access comes with the room.
Borovets Express still lists winter 2025/26 shared rates, with a 3% transaction fee and a 10:00–23:55 flight window. The £60 March 2027 transfer allowance is not a booking quote; confirm that the service runs for your dates and times. Private transport may cost more.
Fairy tip: check the lower nursery slopes and lesson meeting point before booking late-season dates. A bargain matters only if the skiing you need is operating.

Geilo, Norway
For a Norwegian mountain escape
Around £1,300 per person
9–16 March 2027 · Manchester · seven nights · two sharing
Norwegian mountain scenery, ski schools and apartments or cabins give Geilo a different appeal. Choose it for the setting, with time to organise the onward journey carefully; the lowest airfare alone does not tell the whole story.

Flights, stay & practical details
Airline fare snapshot: Manchester–Torp Sandefjord return with Ryanair, £49.98pp, based on Ryanair’s displayed £24.99 each way for a two-adult search. Outbound 09:40–12:30; return 19:35–20:40, local times. Small under-seat bag only; larger baggage is extra. Torp is TRF, not Oslo Gardermoen OSL. The cheap fare does not include getting to Geilo. Plan an airport/station connection and onward trains, allowing generous margins; a missed connection or overnight stop would add cost.
Accommodation sample: Geilo Gaarden, £681.14 for two for seven nights, or £340.57pp. Booking.com’s property information flags separate linen/towel rental; confirm current charges and your unit’s inclusions. Do not assume breakfast is included.
The £160 rail/connection budget is unquoted and depends on tickets and flight times.
Fairy tip: compare the complete journey via Gardermoen too. Paying more for the flight may still buy a better overall trip.

Bansko, Bulgaria

Accommodation sample: Banskovilla Zlateva House, £298.09 for two for seven nights, or £149.05pp after rounding. Confirm the booked room’s board and facilities; our food budget does not depend on a free breakfast promise.
Bansko Shuttle currently advertises fixed-departure transfers from €21.99 each way, with variable prices and fees. The £60 return allowance is not a date-specific booking quote; hotel drop-off and other services can add cost.
Fairy tip: check your accommodation-to-gondola route before chasing the cheapest room. Compare the extra walking, shuttle cost and morning logistics as carefully as the nightly price.

Sauze d’Oulx, Italy
For confident intermediates
Around £1,190 per person
8–15 March 2027 · Manchester · seven nights · two sharing
Sauze d’Oulx suits confident intermediates who will use the wider Vialattea network. Its advertised 400km covers the linked area, rather than slopes beside your room; access depends on your pass, open links and conditions.

Airline fare snapshot: Manchester–Turin return with Ryanair, £49.98pp (£99.96 for two), checked on Ryanair’s fare-selection screen. Outbound 18:55–22:05; return 22:55–23:59, local times. Accommodation sample: B&B Petit, £733.40 for two for seven nights, or £366.70pp. Confirm the exact room, breakfast inclusion and check-in arrangements; the food budget remains an allowance rather than a guaranteed board saving.
Official local transport guidance describes travel via Turin, train to Oulx and a bus up to Sauze. The £70 allowance is not a dated fare quote.
Fairy tip: compare the exact lift-pass coverage before paying for a wider area. If you are learning, nearby nursery terrain and the right school matter more than a headline piste total.

A little Fairy wisdom
Give the cheapest flight a quick reality check: add your bags, the actual airport-to-resort journey and the room’s local charges before celebrating. For this March shortlist, Borovets and Bardonecchia are close enough that a better flight time or easier transfer could be worth more than the small modelled price difference.
Happy travels ♡
How we worked out your budget
Price basis: two adults sharing for seven nights, with six ski days. Researched on 14 October 2026. These five resorts are the Post Office’s 2026 adult resort-cost top five among 32 surveyed resorts, rather than every European ski resort. Our March trip totals are separate calculations, using different weeks for a flexible-date comparison. Borovets, Bardonecchia and Bansko are close enough that small changes could reverse their order.
How we checked flights & stays
Dates were initially selected from low seven-night direct-return indications supplied by Skyscanner. On 14 October 2026 we rechecked the selected dates for two adults: Turin and Torp use Ryanair fare-screen snapshots; Sofia remains a Skyscanner indication because easyJet’s booking page returned an error. This is not a new search for the cheapest dates across all of March. Comparison-site and airline prices differ, and fares can change before payment. Hotel searches returned the same five seven-night totals for two; room-specific cancellation, board and local charges still need confirming.
What the budget includes
Each total adds return ground transport, six-day lift pass and ski/boot hire, food, a £60pp baggage allowance and a £50pp reserve for local charges and small extras. These allowances are editorial estimates. Ski budgets use the Post Office’s 2025/26 pass-and-hire benchmarks plus roughly 10%, rounded up to £5; this is a budgeting cushion, not a prediction or a confirmed 2026/27 tariff. We do not add its lessons/lunch/drinks basket again. Food covers seven days of modest meals, using self-catering where available, rather than restaurant lunches and dinners every day.
Current tariff check: Bardonecchia’s 2026/27 list shows €198 for a six-day adult low-season pass in March. Hire has not been quoted, so the £290 combined allowance remains a forecast. Other resorts’ complete March 2027 pass-and-hire costs are not confirmed.
Baggage check: on the Turin fare screen, Ryanair’s Regular bundle added £55pp return and included a 10kg cabin bag and standard seat. Plus added £85.48pp return with a 20kg checked bag, exceeding our £60 allowance. Your exact bag choice can change the total.
Extras to allow for
Lessons, winter-sports insurance, clothing, helmet hire, UK airport travel/parking and substantial après-ski spending are extra. The £50 reserve is not a cap on mandatory charges. Confirm every component and the transfer timetable before paying: separately booked flights and accommodation do not automatically form a protected package.

Your questions answered
Which is cheapest from Manchester in March 2027?
Our refreshed planning model puts Borovets around £995pp, Bardonecchia £1,005pp and Bansko £1,010pp. These are close contenders: unconfirmed transfers, baggage choices and ski tariffs could change the order.
Are these live holiday deals?
These are planning comparisons, not guaranteed package deals. On 14 October 2026 we checked Turin and Torp prices on Ryanair, refreshed the Sofia comparison-site indication and rechecked the accommodation searches. Sofia’s airline page returned an error. Transfers, room-specific terms and some ski costs remain unconfirmed; no booking or payment has been made.
Are ski lessons included?
No. These totals are for adults who do not need lessons. Beginners should obtain a current lesson quote before choosing. The historical 2025/26 Post Office school figures are not March 2027 prices and should not be used as a confirmed supplement.
Is March suitable for budget skiing?
It can be, but low prices do not guarantee snow or open links. Check the actual nursery slopes, altitude, operating calendar and recent conditions for your resort. We selected seven-night March flight indications; these are different weeks, so this is a flexible-date comparison rather than a same-week price test.
